LearnLink Projects: FEMICA
Municipal
Networking in Central America
LearnLink
worked with the Federation of Central American Municipalities (FEMICA)
to foster electronic networking and distance learning among the
regions municipal stakeholders.
FEMICA
provides political and technical support to national municipal associations,
local political authorities and urban managers in Central America.
An umbrella association of associations based in Guatemala,
FEMICA links municipal officials and authorities throughout the
region, providing opportunities for exchanges and disseminating
ideas and information about the programs and activities of members
in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.
LearnLink
is assisting FEMICA by building a web site that will link the members
electronically. This will enable networking through e-mail and listservs,
facilitate the broad dissemination and exchange of documents, and
provide access to a wealth of archived and regularly updated information
on the members histories, goals and activities. Special sections
on the web site will provide information on current issues and topics
of interest, access to resources for research or training, and links
to other sites for needed information and resources.
This
Task Order is funded by USAIDs Human Capacity Development
Center (HCD) under the Global Bureaus Joint Action Implementation
Fund (JAIF). Collaborating with HCD on the task are the Urban Programs
Office in the Global Bureau Environment Center and the Regional
Urban Development Office (RUDO) in USAID/Guatemala-Central American
Programs.
